Of blues or greens?

As a child, the entire family would often venture out to a nearby forest, sitting quietly in shafts of shadow or light. Birds of all natures would appear, no matter how fleetingly, and Kurt remembers one of them better than all else. He remembers the thudding of his heart, its swift and graceful path, but when he thinks back to what it looks like he only sees an empty silhouette.

It is more painful than any physical blow he will ever receive.

I should really be writing the actual story lol. A nameless visual novel for now. Modest in romance but heavily themed on suicide and abuse. The protagonist, Everett, is a social worker who gets a call from a suicidal teenager, inevitably ending in the sound of gunfire and static. Kurt survives. The two encounter again, and having failed once, Everett cannot afford to make another mistake. For it just may be his last.
